1897
CARSON CITY, NV

Medals commemorate world's heavyweight championship bout held March 17, 1897 when 167-pound Bob Fitzsimmons won title by knockout over James J. Corbett in 14 rounds. Former held championship until June 9, 1899, losing to James J. Jeffries by 11 round knockout at Coney Island, NY.
