World War I Good Luck Medals - 1917

Maker of Type I is unknown. Type II was designed and issued by Adam Pietz, Philadelphia, Pa., engraver and die-sinker. Both types were sold for presentation by families and friends to departing servicemen. They were not popular and their sales were limited.

TYPE I

Obverse: Within circle, kneeling soldier aims rifle to front; legend above, Service With the American Army; below, In the Worlds War 1917; beaded border.
Reverse: In center, eagle, wings outstretched, stands r. on shield, flag and spears; below, Trust in the Lord / and / Keep Your Powder Dry; beaded border.

HK-892 - Bronze. Size 22.
HK-893 - Brass.
HK-894 - White Metal.

TYPE II (UNDATED)

Obverse: American eagle, wings outstretched, swastika on breast; legend above, Good Luck.
Reverse: Classic female head, facing l.; legend, l., near edge, Victory.
