Swift & Company - 1918-1919 - Chicago, IL
These medals obviously were intended to show consumer how Swift spent each dollar of income. At time of issue they were presented to visitors at their Union Stock Yards plant, Chicago; also they were available by mail upon request.
TYPE I—1918
Obverse: Surface divided into one large and two smaller segments; at top, around A Swift Dollar of Sales; in largest segment, across Where It Goes / for Live Stock / 85¢ in second largest segment Labor, Freight and / Other Expenses / 12.96¢; in smallest segment Profit 2.04¢ at bottom, around * 1918 * * * *; beaded border.
Reverse: Big S (Swift insignia) in center circle; outside, above Swift & Company; below U. S. A.; beaded border.
