Philadelphia, 225th Anniversary - 1908 - Philadelphia, PA
Medal same as that privately struck in White Metal for 1882 Bicentennial of Pennsylvania (Part I) except dates are changed to 1683 and 1908 above Penn’s House and City Hall, respectively. Founders’ Week celebration held in Philadelphia Oct. 4-10, 1908.
Obverse: Male bust, facing to l.; in l. border William, in r. border Penn
Reverse: Ornate design—winged full female figure at upper center, between two circles; at top l. circle, on band, 1683; at top r. circle, 1908; edifice in each circle; in l. circle, below edifice, Penn’s House; in r. circle, below edifice, City Hall; below all is small oval shield with unicorns at each side, eagle above; on ribbon below, small Virtue Liberty Independence (State motto).
