GASPARILLA PIRATE FESTIVAL
UNDATED
TAMPA, FL

Medal sponsored and issued by Ye Gasparilla Krewe, private organization staging annual Pirate Festival in cooperation with city authorities. It is used as "throw" piece, i.e. tossed to crowds by "pirates" and other participants. Apparently 1954 was first year of issue, some representing Golden Anniversary of festival, that medal being dated "1904-1954." Pieces struck beginning 1955 bear no date.
